2012 Monthly Goals

January Goals

  • Go swimming (laps) twice this month. I only made it once, which was last weekend. Part of it was fear of the unknown, and part was I had a dickens of a time finding a decent swim suit that didn’t cost $50 or more. I looked everywhere and finally found one at Target.
  • Be able to do 5 regular push ups. I did 10 real pushups last night. 10! Like man-like push ups. And they were pretty decent form, except I could get a little lower. But 10! I think this proves I’m getting stronger because 2 months ago I would have barely done 1.
  • Get 7 hours of sleep. Kind of forgot about this one (which is why I need to check them about 2 weeks into the month), but I did pretty good. I hate that butt dragging feeling, so I’ve been making an effort to get to bed earlier.
  • Lose 5 lbs by the end of the month (this is a little more than 1 lb a week). I’m one pound behind. Weak.
  • Run 1 hilly route a week. I did this! At least 1 route a week had a substantial hill in it. My butt and hips have paid the price and now I’m scheduled for a massage next week, but its a necessary evil.

February Goals

  • Swim at least 4 times for the month. Didn’t happen—at all.  I can swim at the local high school on Saturdays from 12:30-4:30.  I have no excuses.  I think its the same reason I had for not going in January, and that’s just fear of the unknown.  Stupid, really. Stupid.
  • Be able to do 15 real man-like push ups, and get closer to the floor when doing them.  Well, I didn’t make it to 15. I can, however, do 12.  I’m trying to get down closer to the floor.  I need to record myself doing them so I can check my form.  But considering just last  year I couldn’t do any, I’m amazed I can even do 12.
  • Lose 5 lbs by the end of the month. 4 lbs.
  • Run 60 miles in February. Nope.  47.  I think this may have been too lofty of a goal.  I only started tracking my miles mid-January.  All those miles I ran last summer when training for the half marathon and I have no idea how many I was actually running on a weekly or montly basis. But, I did drop them way back after the half marathon in December, because I had some training fatigue and I’m just starting to build up those miles.

March Goals

  • Swim, damn it!! Just get my butt to a pool and swim! Okay, how about twice this month.
  • Lose 4 lbs. Definitely doable.
  • Be able to do 15 man-like pushups.  Yep, this is the month.
  • Run 55 miles.
