2012 Races
Races to run in 2012
January 21, 2012 - Resolution Run 10k
February 12th - Valentine Fanconi Anemia Walk/Run 8k -no official time because it wasn’t a chip timed race.
April 1 - Albertina Kerr Run for the Roses 10k (Official time—1 hr, 14 mins (11:56 pace); Unofficial (my watch (1 hr, 11 mins)
May 6, 2012 - Cinco De Mayo 5k
May 20, 2012 - Run Rock ‘n Roll 1/2 Marathon in Portland (After running the Holiday Half Marathon, and I kept taking walking breaks, I think I might like to see if I can run this one without any walking breaks, except to get some water and energy stuff down.) Decided not to do this one because (1) race fees are expensive!! and (2) I think its going to be crowded, and not sure I want to run with that volume of people.
June 2012 - Start training for Portland Marathon with Portland Fit? (If I decide to do the Portland Marathon, I’m considering joining Portland Fit. They plot out all the runs for you, have food/water support on the routes, and give you tips on training, etc. They divide you up into pace groups too. Not only would it be good for the training, but it would be a good way to meet other runners and maybe make some new friends.)
June 23, 2012 - Pacific Crest Half Marathon in Sunriver (This one would probably be more for fun. The whole weekend is a sports festival, starting with the marathon and half marathon on Saturday, and duoathlon and triathlon events on Sunday. I’m not sure I could even run the whole thing because its in Sunriver, which is a 4500’ elevation. I’ve been a sea level runner so far, so actually thinking I could run a whole half-marathon at 4500’ could be a farce. Also, this is our girls weekend, where we rent a house with a hot tub, drink, eat and gossip and have lots of fun. We didn’t do it this last year and really missed it. So that’s why there’s not a lot of emphasis on taking it too seriously. But don’t get me wrong—I’ll give running it my best shot.)
October 7, 2012 - Portland Marathon (I can’t seem to find a marathon that’s really close other than our local one. I was hoping for one maybe a little later, but I think starting out locally would be good. I was looking at the Honolulu marathon in December, but I don’t think trying to do my first marathon in humidity and heat would be very ideal.)
October 2012 - Attend Soaring Wings Half Marathon (I would LOVE to do this. I’m a definite yes for this if other Internets are going.)
