I’m confused. I finally (FINALLY) took my phone with me on a run and used imapmyrun. Also took my watch—just in case. Now this is my usual route around the waterfront and along the eastbank esplanade and back to the building. I’ve mapped it on maymyrun and its 3.17. imapmyrun said it was 3.48 miles. Huh? I would except some difference, but not that much. The time was...
Did ya know...
that a cranberry bliss bar from starbucks has only 280 calories? Sure, almost half is fat, but I thought it would be more in calories. Like 400-something. Just informational. No consumption has happened. Continue about your day.
My right knee is bothering me a little. WTF?! My Mom has both osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, and arthritis runs in her family. I’m really hoping I avoided that little genetic time bomb (I can hope, right?), but even the mildest twinge of knee pain freaks me out a little. Another reason to lose weight—not so much pressure on my knees.
Yesterday’s weigh in—186.8 Today’s weigh in—185.2 This was my weight the day before Thanksgiving. I think most of this is water weight loss. For some reason I was really thirsty yesterday. Especially in the morning. I spent 50% of the day drinking water and 50% of the day peeing. If I had a dollar for every time I peed yesterday I could retire. Didn’t sleep well...
robownslife replied to your post: Awesome TRX Class burpees are crazy! lol Yes, they are. And one-legged TRX burpees are a whole different level of crazy. But I’m gonna give it a shot! :)
Awesome TRX Class
Jeremy was back, and it was a butt kicker and awesome. AWESOME! We did things like hip adduction, bridge lifts, and pikes (although mine weren’t this pretty). A lot of core and leg work. I feel like my core is getting stronger, but I need to add one more day of doing core work on my own so I’m doing it 3 days a week. Feel like I really push it in this class and don’t give...
Went down to the gym today at lunch to walk on the treadmill, stretch, and foam roll. I found that sore spot in my lower back. It believe its starting in my butt and radiating up. The foam roller and I had oodles of fun! TRX class tonight! Jeremy, the regular instructor, is back. Woot! (Did I mention that he’s hot—even with a nose that has obviously been broken.)
Has anyone seen that commerical against smoking where they squeeze the fat or whatever it is out of an artery?! Not something you want to see when you’re trying to eat breakfast, and of course, that’s when I always see it.
Yesterday - 187.4 Today - 186.8 Moving in the right direction! I’m hoping to be 184-something by Friday, but have a friend’s happy birthday happy hour on Thursday, so that will take some self-control.
Gee, look at what I found as part of my cell phone charger! File this under goober.
kelzor replied to your post: Just ordered a new MP3 (yep, it officially… Post a sign by your laundry basket/machine/detergent that says “CHECK YOUR POCKETS!” or something? This is a good idea! But I usually don’t put it in my pocket, but because it ran out of power right as I started to run, I stashed it there. My usual MO is I take the head set when I get to the car, then stash it...
Just ordered a new MP3 (yep, it officially died—even with @michaeldoeslife’s CPR advice I couldn’t resurrect it). This one is a pretty “indigo” (aka purple). Of course, this won’t help me when I leave it in my jacket pocket and then run said jacket through the washer and dryer.
I think I found a place to swim! And it looks like I could be the youngest one there! :)
Holiday Half Marathon
After this post yesterday, I was seriously considering NOT doing the Holiday Half Marathon on December 11th. But then I’ve seen a couple of posts about committment, and how training is hard, but worth it, and life is short and fragile, and specifically, Rob from @robownslife saying it would be an an epic win if I just walk it, I’ve decided to go ahead and do it. But I’m letting...
After telling @chrisrunsanddoeslife he should wear a road id, I just ordered one for myself. Thought I should live what I preach. :)
I’ve been avoiding this because I ate too much this weekend. It was 187.4. All things considered, it could have been worse. Back to work today, and I’m tired. Considering how much I slept this weekend, I can’t really explain this. Anyway, time to kick it back into gear. Step it up November is not over!
EPIC. I was supposed to do 10 miles today. I did probably 3. 36 minutes. I got up this morning at 8, but still felt tired so I curled up on the couch and fell back asleep until 10:30. And then I finally dragged my butt out the door it was just starting to rain. But the rain wasn’t the problem. My body was. My lower back is stiff and sore and was twinging. And for a couple of weeks...
Winter Wonderland Run done! Did 2 miles, which was once around. It was really cool looking at all the lights as you run by. I did it in 23:19, which was an average pace of 11:39, but my first mile was about 11:04, and then I felt myself slow down. Really fun run to do! Tomorrow—10 miles.
I can’t lie. There was this evil little voice in my head that said “skip the walk. It’s only a walk.” I hate that voice. And its in my head quite often. You know the one. Sit on the couch, its easier. Its too hard, just stop running. Yep, that one. Glad I squished that little mother down and went. Its such a beautiful day out. Very mild. I have a feeling that...
Yesterday was such a bad day. I just laid around until 5 (yes, 5 pm) in my pajamas. Mostly out of disgust, I finally did put on some sweats and did some laundry and a little cleaning. And yes, I ate too much too. Today I’m back on track. Cleaned the kitchen and I’m going to leave to go for a very brisk walk soon. And tonight, its the Winter Wonderland Festival of Lights. ...
35:22. My watch was 33:32. I’m assuming 35:22 is gun time, not race time, because that’s just too big of a discrepancy, and it took us a couple of minutes to get to the start line to actually cross. Every race result should have a “gun time” and “chip time.” If they don’t fix it I won’t be doing another Uberthon event. :/
Turkeython--did I PR?
So I ran the Turkeython 5k this morning with @Kelzor aka Kellie. We missed you @selfmademagic! It was pretty chilly! We were there early so there was a lot of standing around and waiting, so really was happy to actually run and warm up! I was just planning on running this easy and not trying to PR. My hamstrings were tight and the last thing I need is a pulled hamstring. We took off and...
I attempted to do my first ever video post, and I’m pretty sure I’ve been traumatized by seeing myself live and in action. What I was going to say was…. THANK YOU to all of you for following me and giving me support and keeping me motivated to run. The Tumblr community really has been great and I know you “get” that part of me that loves to run, push, and challenge...
Weighed in today Yesterday—185.2 Today—186.8 FU scale. I hate water weight. Off to Turkeython soon. Not looking for any PRs because I’m my hamstrings are tight and sore and my hips are tight. Just hope to burn some calories and sweat some water out.
brooksylite replied to your post: I may have fallen off the wagon a little and eaten… New Conan or Arnold version? The new Conan, of course!
I may have fallen off the wagon a little and eaten a few too many Dove dark chocolate peppermint bark candies. I may have let myself get too hungry today and not have had enough snacks and succumbed when I got home. And now I may feel really gross and may have said to myself I need to remember this feeling. I also may be watching Conan the Barbarian and appreciating the bare chested Conan....
westcoastrunner replied to your post: Yoga Grunter Yes — Every time I have been there are always VERY audible grunters, moaners and loud breathers! I thought yoga was suppose to be one of those quiet, meditative things. Who knew?! :)
Do people grunt when doing yoga? I know Relunctant Runner had a heavy breather in yoga. I just walked on the treadmill at lunch because I’ve developed tight hamstrings, then spent some quality time with the foam roller. There was this guy next to me doing his own little yoga thing. He was in the downward dog (that about maxes out my knowledge of yoga BTW) and he was grunting, then he...
RoadtoRunningStrong is back! So glad!!
Yesterday’s WI - 186.2 Today’s WI - 185.2 Woot!!! Gonna do a little running on the treadmill today (not too much though—Turkeython 5k tomorrow) and then core work.
backtosize replied to your post: Warning! Bitchy Post Ahead! What a drag! I’d be really disappointed and UBER frustrated as well. :( Definitely wait til the regular guy comes back! Uber frustrating—what a good description. When he had us do the workout last week, towards the end we did mountain climbers and burpees. I really had to dig deep to do them. They were that hard to do. She had...
Warning! Bitchy Post Ahead!
So, I had TRX class tonight and the regular instructor was gone for the week, which I knew about going in. I figured it would be good to try out a different instructor and maybe work my body a little differently. All it turned out to be was disappointing and pissed me off. First of all, I got there and all the stations but one were taken, and of course, there was no TRX in it, but there was...
Weigh in yesterday - 186.8 Weigh in today - 186.2 Going to TRX class tonight. Its a different instructor tonight, so it will be interesting to see how different it is. Hopefully its still a circuit training like format because it burns a lot of calories and makes me sweat buckets. And in an unrelated, non-fitness note, could it rain any harder?
Lose It App
Downloaded the Lose It App. I find that bar code thing fascinating! I think someday all of us will be walking around with bar codes on our foreheads.
Came in and the lobby of our building is all decked out in Christmas decorations! Usually they do it Thanksgiving weekend, so they’re early this year. I plan on just ignoring them for a week.
Sunday’s weigh in - 188.8 (ugh!) Today’s weigh in - 186.8 At least its a step in the right direction.
So happy its a 3 day work week! Yay!!!!
I just realized I washed my MP3! I heard this thumping in the dryer (actually, I heard it for the last, oh, hour) and finally went to check my clothes and realized that’s what it was. I put it in my pocket while on my run because the battery died and never took it out. It’s charging right now, but I’m not holding out much hope its okay. :(
irun4me replied to your post: Here they are! Finished product! Are they as yummy as they look?!? :) Why yes they are! I’ve roasted potatoes and carrots together, and asparagus, but never a melange like this. I usually get my vegetables from salads and soups because I pretty much suck at steaming them. And brussel sprouts and cauliflower? Uh, no! But I really liked them like this! I hear...
Here they are! Finished product!
This is the kind of day that running was meant for. The kind of day that makes you feel good to be alive. I mean, just look. It’s beautiful. It was cold, but not enough to keep people outside. There were a lot of people out running and riding bikes. I went out to my car for the drive to the park to run (which is where I took this picture) and there was frost on my windows. I was...
Long run done. Awful. Just awful. Pitiful me post to come later.
Checked the weather at 9. 30 degrees. Checked the weather at 10. 32 degrees. Sun is shining though so I’m sure that will warm me up in a jiffy!
Going to go Meemaw at it and roast vegetables tomorrow. I’ve roasted vegetables before, but the brussel sprouts will be a new adventure for me. I remember eating brussel sprouts when I was a little kid and throwing them up, but they were boiled and not roasted and I was a kid with no taste. And the pesto is a new adventure for me too. I’ve never had pesto before. I’m going to...
There was something going on (that I couldn’t see or figure out) in the parking lot of WinCo Foods. There’s a wetland on the other side of the parking lot, so its not unusual to see a male and female waddling through the park lot, but I’ve never seen this. I stopped to take a picture and this guy said there were twice as many earlier, and then he said “Occupy...
robownslife started following you OMG! One of the cool kids started following me! (She says quietly as to not scare him away with her enthusiam.)
Happy Catturday from Ella! She’s 7 months old and loves her boy Jack and all things food (she gets that from me). We’ve been doing kitty aerobics with the laser light. Everybody in our house realizes the importance of exercise. :) And this is Jack. I’ve posted a pic or two of him before. In this one he thinks he’s hiding. Uh, yeah, he’s a goober, for sure....
Yep, I made it out for my run tonight. Call it brisk, call it invigorating, call it ass-numbing cold. Yep, let’s call it that. Ass-numbing. For Portland in November, anyway. I think the best way to describe this run is just summarize the thoughts in my head: Damn, its cold out (obvs) Not many people out tonight. Probably had the sense to stay in. Duh. Damn, I have to pee! And...
It’s a toasty 42 degrees and the sun is down and the temperature is falling. I can’t remember if I ran last fall/winter when it was this cold. I probably did, but I don’t have any recollection of it, but it wasn’t that cold of a winter either, so maybe not. Anyway, heading out tonight. We’ll see how I do. Too bad I don’t have a thermal sports bra.
