Tonight I was shooting for 5 miles, but only managed 4.  Okay, to be exact (according to Mapmyrun) 3.99 miles.  It was pretty chilly, and the wind coming off the river was down right icy.  My left calf is still having that tightness on the inside of my leg.  Sunday it was worse though, so it is better.  I didn’t limp for a few seconds every time I stopped and started.  And I did stop and...

I feel like a wooly mammoth today.  It was snowing this morning (all wet snow, no sticking) and it was cold, so I threw on heavy sweater.  I like the color (maroon/dark red) and its warm because I figured the office would be cold, but it’s baggy and I feel like a big, unkempt wooly mammoth.  I gave absolutely no thought to appearance or how I would feel in it. Oh well.  Is it 5 yet so I can...

I’m much better today. After a headache, some chills and a queasy stomach I feel better. Going to try a little treadmill run tonight after work.  That’s all I’ve got for now.

I am definitely not feeling well today.  Nothing definitive, except a slight headache and light headed, and I might throw up if I eat something. Trying to decide if I should go home and see if I throw up there.  EDIT:  But at least I can walk. :)

My family...
My dad has knee replacement surgery tomorrow morning. He’s been a bit of a grouch about it, but I know its because he’s just worried he won’t be as mobile as he was before (although he’s been walking around with a knee brace for oh, 5 years!), and won’t be able to do things like hunt, fish, and ride his horses.  I told him that as long as he does the PT (and he will)...

Sunday Highlights
As if they are really “highlights.”  Ran today.  I was shooting for 6, but there’s a part of my calf that is really tight.  I’d start to run and until it loosened up I was limping a little.  Its not really an area I can hit with a stretch so I foam rolled it and I’m going to foam roll again before I got to bed. I think the run was a slow 5. Went to the grocery store...

This was my I-don’t-want-to-run-its-Friday-night-and-its-raining-pout. But I said “suck it up buttercup.”  I said I was going to run outside and I meant it.  Thoughts during run summed up my run by bullet point. Its not raining too hard. Where is everybody? Boy those geese are enjoying the rain. Oh wait, its Friday night and its raining. Everybody is probably at happy...

One of my people called in sick today (so now I’m on my own to make sure his brief is okay before I file it—eep) and he threw up in the middle of the night and now has a fever and aches.  He was perfectly fine yesterday. I wonder what the incubation period is on something like that……?

Slacker employee is again out today, so now I’m covering for her, so I am missing yet another lunch time workout becuase I have so much to do.  Her days might be numbered though.  Someone who covers for her blew the whistle on her constantly coming in late and leaving early (she has a position where it went unnoticed) and the supervisor was unaware of it and surprised.  Back to...

Flashback Friday!  This was me in 2006 right after I finished walking the Portland Marathon. Sorry its a little dark and far away, but I think you can see I’m quite heavy.  I trained all summer for this and gained weight and probably was about 215-ish.  (Funny how I can remember several years later how much I weighed at certain points of my life.)  You cannot walk all the miles and still eat...

Happy Friday--this & that....
Beautiful day in Portland!  Of course, its supposed to cloud up and be raining by 4.  And of course, this will be the one time the weatherman is right. I’m going to tell myself to “Suck it Up Buttercup” and step out into the rain.  Its weird, because once I’m out running and doing my thing, if it starts to rain its usually no biggie.  But going out when its already...

Today was all about the food.  Think it started with not eating enough last night.  Had breakfast, cashews for a snack, but was famished by Noon. I had a salad with chicken, but not enough chicken, and by 1:30 I was hungry.  HUNGRY!!  Again.  There was left over pizza brought in for a lunch meeting and I caved and had that.  I haven’t had pizza for months.  MONTHS.  And this pizza? Awful! ...

Shift to this week's schedule
davidsgoals: I have a bit of a migraine this afternoon/evening and was schedule to run 3.5 miles. Moving the run to tomorrow morning on the treadmill. Saturday’s run (5 miles) should still happen. If I have to, I can move it to Sunday. I’m not not doing it; I’m still doing it  :) BTW, finally getting some snow in Chicagoland. Been throwing snowballs for Boo to catch, he loves the snow. Calorie Question
I’m using the Lose It App to keep track of my calories.  I ran last night and according to Lose It I burned 714 calories.  (I went to Run the Planet and entered the actual MPH—because Lose It goes from 5.2 to 6.0 mph—and it said 760.)  My calorie budget is 1632 to lose 1 pound a week.  I ate 1760 calories, burned around 700+, for a net caloric intake of 1048.  I am soooo hungry...

Well, that was a noon workout that didn’t happen.  Work is a little crazy because a coworker constantly calls in sick* and so have extra work to do because of it, and I was FREAKING HUNGRY.  (And I had cashews for a mid-morning snack.)  I wouldn’t have been able to concentrate on what I was doing anyway because of my rumbling stomach.  So back to work so I can hopefully get out of here...

I was at the gym and saw a woman sporting a small little thing with her Ipod cord wrapped around it. Looked like this. It was called a bobino!  She said they make larger ones for TV/computer cords.  Did everyone but me know about these?  They are at The Container Store and about $2.99 and $3.99.

Did 5.3 miles in 58:13, which works out to a 10:59 pace.  It was one of those runs where I felt like I could keep going.  I had to run a couple of errands and I didn’t get home until 8.  I was about ready to chew my arm off I was so hungry.  I hate a hamburger patty (6 ounces), peas, and some oven french fries and I still...

Good lord its windy.  I was going to go out regardless of the rain, but damn our building is creaking and the flag on the waterfront is blowing like crazy.  It’s earthquake “proof” and is built to sway a little, so when the wind really blows it creaks like crazy.  Really not crazy about fighting the wind.  Guess its the treadmill.  Again. Moxy, you’re right.  Its important to remember that. Confession
So I really haven’t posted anything about my weight in a while.  Okay, a long while.  I think the last time was before Christmas. One of the reasons I started this blog was to be accountable and to make more progress in my weight loss.  And while I did get into the low 180s, that’s where I stalled out. Honestly, I don’t know why I have such a hard time getting over that 180 hump and into the...

Sunday Recap
So here’s what happened today. I ran in the morning (okay, kind of late, late morning, but I made it out before Noon, which is good). The movie was returned today. I hope whoever watched it and enjoyed it. It was “The Double” with Richard Gere. Never heard of it, so it may have been a straight to DVD movie, but hey, it has Richard Gere in it. Very thankful it was returned. ...

I got out and ran today. I was going to do six, but I couldn’t get mapmyrun to work (still getting script errors so going to have to ask IT guy at work) so I just got out and ran. Little slower, but that’s...

The Kindness of Strangers
This is what I’m depending on.  I rented a movie from Redbox and after searching hi and low for it, decided I left it in the basket at the store.  I called the store and nobody turned one in and I didn’t receive an e-mail from Redbox saying that it had been returned, so I can only guess that someone decided to take it and watch it for themselves.  So now I can only hope that they...
