Melanie is Doing Life

7 notes

It really bugs me when people start defining me by my age.  I’m not old, so stop call me that.  I’m healthy (other than needing to drop more weight), strong, and I run.  I have this friend who calls herself old or elderly.  She’s 57.  She acts like she’s 77.  Once we were all going to somewhere and she referred to the group of us as “old ladies.”  If you want to see yourself that way and stumble around acting like you’re an old lady, hey, that’s fine.  Its your life and if that’s the way you want to live it, okay.  BUT. DO. NOT. lump me in that group and call me old.

Sorry for the rant, but I’ve been hearing this for a long time now and its gotten old (uh, pun not intend?), and its straining our friendship, although she seems clueless about it.
